Getting Around

✓ CARS & TAXI CABS
We recommend using trusted ride-share apps for getting around, for both convenience and for your safety. Rates vary across platforms, and they offer both taxi cab and ride-share options. In our experience, Cabify and Didi usually have the best rates during rush hour.

✓ BIKES
Tembici
has bike-sharing stations all over town. Regular and e-bike options are available. Be mindful of traffic.

✘ BUS
The local bus networks, Transmilenio and SITP, can be confusing for first-time users.

✘ TAXI CABS
Hailing them on the street is not advised.

Bogotá

Bogotá is a wonderful city, 2600 meters closer to the stars. It is the capital city of Colombia, located in the middle of the country on the East Mountain Range of the Andes.

Bogota is Colombia's largest city with around 8 millions inhabitants and it is known for its activeness. Having one of the best night lifes, being a multicultural city, having some of the best national and international gastronomies, and being the economic center of Colombia, Bogotá is alive 24/7.

Its weather moves from winter to summer in less than 24 hours. Be ready to hold a umbrella, a jacket, jeans tennis shoes and a backpack to save everything when rain stops and sun comes out at 24 C° and then at night some chills around 8 C°.

It is a place of convergence for people from all around the country and is therefore diverse and multicultural.

Colombia

Located in NW South America, Colombia is a tropical country of incredible diversity and charm.

It is surrounded by two oceans (the Atlantic and the Pacific); shaped by three mountain ranges; bathed by more than a 100 rivers; filled with exotic plants and animals; and inhabited by warm-hearted people. Its ever-changing geography; a history loaded with mystery and adventure; and its diversity of people and cultures, has fascinated the world for centuries. Colombia has the highest rate of species by area worldwide, as well as a huge variety of climate and ecosystems, and it is the second largest producer of flowers
in the world.

Although the excellent coffee and the purity of the emeralds found here have made the country famous, Colombia is also the homeland of the legend of El Dorado and the magical universe of Gabriel García Marquez’s Macondo.

Tourism

Near Bogotá

Additionally, if you have some extra time, there are several plans close to the city.

Just an hour away we have the Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá. A little further (about 1:30-2 hours) you can find the Laguna de Guatavita, home of the Dorado legend of the Muisca culture. For extreme sports we have Sopó, and if you like Golf we have more than 24 golf courses around Bogotá.

Also near Bogotá, we have the biggest moorlands or "Páramo" in the world called Sumapaz. Páramos are some of the most important ecosystems for our country. Most of the city’s water supply comes from them and they are a unique home for some fauna and flora; you can do several ecological walks inside the National Natural Parks that protect it.

La Candelaria

Just a couple of minutes away from our venue, you can reach Bogotá’s historic city center also known as La Candelaria. La Candelaria is famous for being an economic, cultural, and political center in the city. Famous for its colorful houses, the urban art and the history that lives in its colonial streets, it’s our top recommendation if you plan to do some tourism around the city.

Some of the highlights are the Plaza de Bolivar (the main square in the city), the Chorro de Quevedo (Bogotá’s oldest square and street), cerro Monserrate (the cathedral on top of the mountain), the Museo del Oro (Gold museum), the Botero Museum (one of the most famous Colombian artist), the National Museum, and the small typical restaurants and coffee shops around the neighborhood.

Other neighborhoods

Aside from La Candelaria, there are several other neighborhoods that can be very interesting and where you can find delicious gastronomy and/or souvenirs. Usaquén { Restaurants and bars }, Quinta Camacho { Pubs and Restaurants }, the Parque 93 {Park, Restaurants, and Nightlife }, the Parkway {Park, Restaurants}, and many others are included in this list.

Safety

Although generally safe and very touristic, we highly recommend that you "do not give papaya” in the city.

Colombians live by this local expression, and It basically means to be aware of your belongings and do not take your phone or valuable belongings out in the streets.

Major Cities

Aside from our big and famous tourist cities such as Medellin, Cartagena and Cali, Bogotá and its surroundings have a lot to offer.

More info

Bogotá has a wide variety of tourism options. Local highlights include a diverse and high-quality gastronomic scene, specialty museums, colonial architecture, and nightlife.
